A full 60% deposit is required to secure your booking and change it from a provisional booking to a confirmed booking. A provisional booking temporarily reserves your spot for you for up to 24 hours, and we’ll be happy to confirm and secure your place once we receive your full deposit.

Self Catering, Drinks & Alcohol:
Self-catering means you’ll have the flexibility to supply and prepare your own meals during your stay. As we don’t have a shop on-site and are not permitted to sell alcohol, we kindly ask that you purchase your groceries, drinks, and any other supplies before arrival. Balance of payment:
100% of the remainder balance is payable no later than 14 days prior to your arrival date.

We would like to remind you to please ensure you have read the below information and a reminder if you have booked for self-catering, please remember to do your shopping for groceries and drinks as we do not have a store nearby.

Please notify us of your arrival when you reach the final stretch 7.5 Kms before your arrival at Kanon

Ahead of your arrival, we would like to know your eta, please if possible. Kindly also let us know when you have turned off the tar road and are beginning your drive down the dirt road by sending us a WhatsApp or phoning us, so we can have someone meet you and open the gate for you.

Important Updates, Route Arrival Info

Please check our home page of our website for any additional important information. This is Africa, from time to time severe weather can impact arrival routes, cell phone reception and electricity supply to coastal area’s.

In the event of any such disruptions, we may experience intermittent power outages and have an alternate arrival route for you. To keep you comfortable, the reserve is equipped with a backup generator to provide some alternative power during these periods when possible. All of our cooking and heaters are powered by gas. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate these weather / power / water related challenges.

Check in time is from 14:00 – 18:00 on the day of your arrival.

Check Out Time:

Check out time is no later than 10:00 am on the day of departure.

ACCOMMODATION NOTES

Please take note of our terms & conditions and cancellation policies when making a booking. Please see notes below on each of the available accommodation units on our property, some information on extra’s, safety and some general riles and regulations.

GLAMPING AT KHOEKHOEN BEACH LODGE

HEAD COUNT:
Maximum of 6 heads on 5 beds: 1 XL tent suite with king-size bed and 2 tent suites with twin beds.
The accommodation consists of three 2 sleeper luxury en-suite glamping tents.

BRAAI/FIRE FACILITIES:
Moveable fire pit available for braaiing on the main deck plus a mobile briquette/wood griller. All indoor cooking via gas.

VEHICLES & PARKING
Covered parking is available approximately 50 metres from Khoekhoen Lodge. Guests are met with a 4WD buggy to transport bags, groceries, and beverages to the “Welcome Deck” along a sandy track. Khoekhoen is also accessible on foot and is a short 2 minute walk from the parking.

HOUSEKEEPING:
Daily housekeeping visit included from approximately 07:30 to clean the main tent Fishtrap / No. 4 (scullery, cooking station, guest toilet, dining and lounge area), followed by bedroom suites (once available) up to 10:00.

EXTRAS PRICING:
Laundry lists available in main tent sideboard drawers.

BEACH ACCESS (Khoekhoen)
Exclusive private access is directly from the main deck via a gate/wooden staircase.

PERIWINKEL BEACH HOUSE

HEAD COUNT:
Maximum of 10 heads on 8 beds: 2 queen beds, 3 three-quarter beds, and 3 single beds. If the number exceeds the guests booked and paid for, additional guests will be subject to the extra rate for guests exceeding 4 in number (rate on application).

SOLAR POWER & LOADSHEDDING:
KPNR installed a solar power system at Periwinkel in early December 2024. Battery packs (with fire protection) are installed inside under the stairs. No one must interfere with the system, especially children who may be attracted by the green lights. Unless there is seriously inclement weather, there should be no requirement for an additional power source. A timer has been attached to the dishwasher to prevent power shortages during the night. Mobile rechargeable lights are supplied.

BRAAI/FIRE FACILITIES:
Boma close to the house for conventional braai/potjie cooking, enabling guests to sit around the fire in comfort out of the wind. Weber kettle available on the veranda. Traditional “Kagel” fireplace in the house is suitable for potjie cooking only—no braaiing inside!

DRINKING WATER:
Supplied from the Kanon RO Plant and will be replenished upon request. The tap water is perfect for cooking and showering but is slightly brackish in taste.

FYNBOS BEACH COTTAGE

HEAD COUNT:
Maximum of 6 heads on 5 beds: 1 room en suite with queen-size bed and 2 rooms en suite with twin beds.

BRAAI/FIRE FACILITIES:
Weber and mobile braai available. The cottage has a secluded boma. All indoor cooking via gas.

PLUNGE POOL:
Fynbos is the only unit which offers is own private plunge pool exclusively for the use of guests who have booked out this beach cottage.

SHELL CATCHER BEACH COTTAGE

HEAD COUNT:
Maximum of 6 heads on 5 beds: 1 queen bed and 2 twin beds.

BRAAI/FIRE FACILITIES:
Shell Catcher has both kettle and conventional braais. Additionally, at the back of Shell Catcher, there is a sheltered boma for braaiing/potjie cooking when the wind is uncomfortably strong.

BEACH ACCESS:
There are signs for guests at both Shell Catcher and Nguni view indicating the easiest access to the beach where there is a wooden walkway. (Note: Beach towels are not provided.)

NGUNI VIEW BEACH COTTAGE – ACCOMMODATION NOTES

HEADCOUNT:
NGUNI has 6 heads on 5 beds, ie x1 XL queen, x2 twin beds AND x2 bunk beds

BRAAING:
Nguni has both kettle and conventional braais. Additionally at the back of each house there is a sheltered “boma”for braaing/potjie cooking when the wind is uncomfortably strong. FIRE RISKs are high so please damp down all fires after use prior to retiring.

KANON PRIVATE NATURE RESERVE (KPNR) MORE INFO & HOUSE RULES

KPNR is a fully registered nature reserve, which means that all flora and fauna are protected and may not be removed from the reserve, alive or dead. Tortoises, except when in direct danger, must not be picked up. As a nature reserve, sightings of snakes may occur—please treat with caution and report to management if concerned.
VEHICLES
No more than 2 vehicles are permitted on the reserve as part of your stay unless previously discussed with management. Sheltered parking space is provided for each unit for the allocated number of cars per unit. Please exercise caution while driving within the reserve and on the gravel approach road as there are many sightings of small buck species, tortoises, and spur fowl. There is no driving on the beach permitted.
PETS
Strictly no pets. Kanon Private Nature Reserve has a strict no pets policy being a Registered Nature Reserve we are continually concerned for the welfare of ALL the resident fauna & flora.

VISITORS
We do not permit day visitors. All guests are booked in and checked in and accounted for on a register. Any family/friends wishing to visit resident guests must have prior approval from management for the security of all residents.

CANCELLATION POLICY

If a booking is cancelled:

· 30 days prior to arrival: guest forfeits 25% of the deposit
· 21 days prior to arrival: guest forfeits 50% of the deposit
· 14 days prior to arrival: guest forfeits 75% of the deposit

· 7 days prior to arrival: guest forfeits 100% of the reservation/booking total

The deposit is 60% of the total reservation – this payment is required to secure your booking.

SELF-CATERING
All units are let “Self-Catering” Self-Catering means, guests are expected to bring with and provide their own food and drink. Management can however arrange for catered meals at Periwinkel and/or Khoekhoen by prior arrangement. KPNR is 40-50 minutes drive from quality supermarkets/beverage stores (also applicable to restaurants/takeaways). It is therefore advisable to arrive with all your grocery/beverage requirements.

FIRE RISKS
Fire risks are very high. Guests must please “damp down” all fires before retiring.

RECYCLING
Bins are provided to enable guests to recycle glass, plastic, and compost (vegetable/fruit waste, etc.) plus the ordinary kitchen refuse bin.

WATER
The water supply comes directly from the KPNR RO (Reverse Osmosis Plant) and is therefore safe to drink from all taps. The tap water is perfect for cooking and showering but is slightly brackish in taste. RO drinking water is provided by a water dispenser tank in each accommodation and will be replenished upon request. Should you wish to bring your own bottled drinking water please do so.

DISPOSABLE NAPPY BIN:
This item is supplied and may also be used for the disposal of ALL sanitary products as KPNR is on a septic tank system which means ONLY toilet paper may be flushed down the toilet, not even “wet wipes”.

LITTER:
Please take all litter with you, including cigarette butts. They’re not biodegradable and pose a serious fire risk in our dry bush. Use the recycling bins provided. Leave this beautiful reserve as pristine as you found it – the wildlife and future guests will thank you. If you encounter any beach litter, there are bins for “plastic waste” for the environmentally conscious at various points along the beach.

TORTOISES:
Don’t pick up tortoises unless they’re in immediate danger. These ancient creatures have lived here for millions of years and know what they’re doing. Look, photograph, admire from a distance – but please don’t touch or feed any wildlife. This is a registered nature reserve and their protected home.

FISHING:
Anglers: Take ALL fishing tackle, line off-cuts, and hooks back with you. Discarded fishing line is extremely dangerous to seabirds, seals, and marine life. Dispose of everything in bins at your unit or on the beach. If you brought it, take it back!

NO SMOKING INDOORS:
Strictly no smoking inside any buildings. Zero exceptions. If you must smoke, do so outdoors only, use ashtrays provided, extinguish completely, and dispose of butts properly in bins. Fire risk here is very real – don’t flick butts into the bush.

DAMAGES
Guests are held responsible for any loss or damage to the property or its contents — including linen, furnishings, fittings, equipment, or any other items. Such damages will be evaluated exclusively by management, and payment for repairs or replacements will be required upon request. Guests are expected to report any loss or damage to management prior to departure.

EXTRAS

ICE:
Ice is available for purchase at R25 per bag.

WILD OYSTERS:
Wild Oysters may be available (weather and tides allowing) with a minimum order of 6 oysters delivered cleaned and opened with lemon, brown vinegar, and Tabasco sauce, ordered 12 hours in advance. R600.00 per order. (Price subject to change without prior notice.)

EXTRAS PRICING:
1 large bag of fire/braai wood and 1 bag briquettes supplied. Additional large bags of wood are available at R135 each for wood and R100 for briquettes (+ firelighters and matches R25).

REQUESTS:
All requests for additional wood, briquettes, ice, etc., should be made by 14:00 for delivery before 17:00.

HOUSEKEEPING LAUNDRY SERVICE:
Housekeeping offers a laundry service with lists available for “wash & fold” R250 or “wash & iron.” R350. Lists are available in the rooms. Note: A same-day service incurs a 25% surcharge on the laundry total.

HOUSEKEEPING:
We offer a daily “quick sweep” housekeeping visit for approximately 60-90 minutes in the mornings during which the housekeeping will attend to a quick tidy of the kitchen, dishwasher, bathrooms, floors sweeping/mopping & basic clean of a Braai if needed (+ grid/wood supply check, Blitz & brickets etc.

Additional housekeeping charged at R350 per hour or part thereof subject to prior arrangement and availability. Note: A “same day” service is subject to a 25% surcharge on the laundry total.

LOADSHEDDING:
Management bears no responsibility for loadshedding but may assist with generator power where deemed appropriate for a limited period. The use of electrical appliances should be limited so as not to overload the generator. Rechargeable globes have been installed in many light fittings. Note: “No Power means No Shower” as all water is pumped from tanks to bathrooms.

WIFI
Our properties are equipped with Wi-Fi within the accommodation, subject to service provider up-time and electricity availability. Please do note, because of our secluded location, the service provider may experience intermittent issues from time to time. This can cause temporary Wi-Fi downtime that we are unable to prevent. Electricity outages due to loadshedding or other power cuts in the area and Wi-Fi outages that may occur are unfortunately beyond our control.

ADDITIONAL GUESTS:
All units have a limited maximum capacity listed herein and cannot accommodate more guests than specified. Management will always assist where possible to provide accommodation for unexpected guests. Should you require to have additional guests accommodated, this should be done prior to arrival and subject to management approval and any additional guests will be subject to paying an additional nightly per person per night guest rate of up to R4000 per additional person subject to the reservation.

SWIMMING:
Swimming in the sea can be dangerous, swim at your own risk. We do not have any lifeguards.

SAFETY:
Children must be supervised at all times.
