We are experiencing intermittent power outages at present and have an alternate arrival route for you. To keep you comfortable, the reserve is equipped with a generator to provide alternative power during these periods when possible. All of our cooking and heaters are powered by gas. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate these weather-related challenges.
Please use the alternative route when travelling to Kanon via the South.

Arrival From The South ( Cape Town )
If travelling to Kanon Private Nature Reserve from the south (Travelling from Cape Town), stay on the N2 and take the turn-off signposted “Vleesbaai, Boggomsbaai, Gouritsmond” (look for the “Vleesbaai Afdraai, N2” sign). This turn-off is an additional 15 minutes further ( 26.9 km ) on the N2 direction towards Mossel Bay.
Once you have taken that turn-off, follow the directions to Kanon as normal. It is 21 Kms from the N2 – to Kanon.
- At 17.kms – to the left turn off the main road onto the sand road down the hill towards Kanon.
(optional stop at Johnson’s Post to get some last minute snacks, coffee, gifts.)
- Original route distance from the N2 = 32.3 kms
- Detour total distance 51.5 ( Total additional distance 19.2 Kms. )
